Summer is here! Kids live for this time of year to swim, play in the sun and have a blast out of school for several months! Unfortunately, if your kids are like every other child on the planet there will still be those moments when they do nothing but complain about how bored they are!
Here is a quick list of Summer Boredom Busters for Kids:
#1- Create a Summer Game Basket
Go to the dollar store/general store near you and stock up on Old Maid, Go Fish, and a plain old regular deck of cards, checkers, chess and some dice. Print out several games kids can play with these cards and the dice and put it all in a basket. Check out this website for Kid Classic Card Games. When kids complain of boredom…the basket will help create hours of fun with siblings or friends.
#2 – Boredom Jar
Take an empty Mason Jar and have your kids decorate it for summertime. Next, make a list of fun, easy activities they can do around the house. Cut out each activity and place inside the jar. If kids get bored, they can simply grab out an activity and fulfill it!

-Paint a picture
-Sidewalk chalk a mural of your family
–Make homemade playdough and build a zoo out of playdough

#3 – Get Creative Assignment
This fun way to keep kids busy has endless options for entertainment because it is different each time you do it.
-You will need three envelopes. In the first envelope write on five strips of paper each phrase – Write a story, Make a movie, Create a dance, Draw a picture, or Write a play.
-Next, take your second envelope and write phrases such as –About a boy with no teeth, About a woman who has eight children, About a dog wearing pajamas, About a vampire who eats carrots, About a princess that never sleeps…or whatever you choose!
-Lastly, take your third envelope and write action phrases such as – Who runs a restaurant, Who escapes from prison, Who moves across the world, Who flies in a hot air balloon, Who loves to eat hotdogs….you get the idea!
This concept can be adjusted however you like and create hours of fun entertainment for any child as they draw from all three envelopes and get creative inventing a story.
